"Alrighty," Wes said as she finished her own burger. She balled up the wrapper and grabbed the rest of her trash, tossing it into Jake's pile with a smug grin. She stood up, careful of her knee, and stretched.

Kris stood up, grabbed the trash from in front of Jake and threw it away. She pulled out her cell phone, which she really wasn't supposed to have but oh well, and called a cab. "Let's go." When the cab arrived, Kris helped Wes in and sat up in the front seat. The cab dropped them off in front a hotel in the middle of town. "This looks nice, hopefully we can stay safe for a while here and not worry about fracking monsters."

"'Fracking' monsters?" Wes asked, raising an eyebrow after getting out the cab. "If this is Battlestar Galactica, I'm pretty sure it's the Cylons that we have to worry about." The last time she'd stayed at home, her step-dad was in that sci-fi phase, and had that show on quite a bit.

"I glad you caught the reference," Kris said to Wes with a smile. She looked at the hotel again and began to walk inside. "Come on I think you guys will like this place."
The hotel looked pretty fancy from the inside. Kris walked up to the counter and asked for two conjoining rooms and said that she didn't know who long they would be staying. When the desk person saw that the value on the card was unlimited, she didn't have a problem with the checkout date being unknown. Kris got the room keys and walked back to her two companions. "Here you guys go." She handed Jake his key and Wes the key to their room. "Lets go, I am tired."

Jake took the key and gave a nod. He was more stiff from sitting in a car than tired. He'd probably stay up and mess with something or pace his room anxious to get moving again.

Wes took the key and went to the elevator, pressing the up button. When it opened, she stepped in and hovered her fingers over the buttons, "Penthouse suite, by chance?"

Kris turned to Wes, "Of course. You really think I would settle for anything else?" She had a smug grin. "When you have unlimited money, you can get the best of everything and not feel bad." She ran her fingers through her hair and cringed at how gross it felt. "Let's go... I wanna get some sleep and then go get some TLC at the salon and spa."

Jake stepped into the elevator and leaned against the back wall. He examined the interior.
"Not bad. But could use work. It could be eleven times more efficient." He said simply.

**TIME SKIP: NEXT MORNING**

Kris woke up with the suns rays cutting through the blinds and hitting her eyes. She walked into the bathroom and admired the new lowlights in her hair. She had a very relaxing day the previous day and was ready to face the world again... and get a new car... "Alright guys wake up! We need to get started on this search!" Kris grabbed her toothbrush and began brushing her teeth and walking around the suite to wake the other two up.

Jake woke up with a start. He glanced around, regathering his wits.
"Search... right! When we find it- I call dibs!"
He said, jumping up and getting ready.

"Woah... I think whoever finds it gets dibs... and we all know that that person will be me." Kris smiled with the toothbrush in her mouth. "And don't deny it, cause it's true." She found her way back to the bathroom and rinsed out her mouth. She finished getting ready and slung her backpack over her shoulder. "Are we ready for this hunt?"

"Of course I am, since I'm going to find it first." Jake said, shouldering his pack and giving a broad grin.
"Hephaestus made it, after all. So- family dibs." He said smartly, opening the door.

"Uhm, how about we focus first on finding it before the bad guys get a hold of it? Then we can fight over it barbarically." Wes said after getting ready. She shouldered her backpack, then added, "Besides, you two are kidding yourselves. I'm going to be the one to find it."

"Wes is right, about finding it before the bad guys, not about her finding it first." Kris walked out the door. "So how in the name are we going to go about looking for it... There is just way to much ground to cover."

"If I were a mystical hiding spot, I'd hide it in a defensible part of the woods, out of the way from random bystanders." Jake offered. "It's probably hidden in a rock or a cave or something like that."

"Yes, Jake, because it's always that easy. You want to keep it out of the way of bystanders, you hide it in the belly of a beast." Wes gave a stretch. Her head was feeling much better today, and, thanks to some ambrosia, she could walk on her knee with a brace.
"Okay, so maybe not something so dramatic, but it has to have a guardian of some sort. Yeah, sure, it could be in cave, but I think we ought to be looking specifically for a monster's lair or something like that, you know? Whichever monster killed the last hero to have it...which was whom again?"

"Brilliant idea Wes, I just don't remember who had the shield last..." Kris wracked her brain for that piece of information. Nothing came to mind. She really hoped Jake knew who it was cause if he didn't there search could be endless and even more dangerous than if they knew.

"I don't know... Achilles?" Jake said smartly. "Then when that idiot got himself shot, Odysseus won the lottery for it. He wasn't killed by a monster. He was one of the few who died normally."
He informed. "As far as I know, it's dropped off the map since then."

"Yeah, Odysseus won it, but later gave it to Achilles's son, Neoptolemus, and that's where histories loose it. Hmm, Neo had three sons, maybe it was passed down." Wes had an epiphany as she remembered the play, 'Andromache.' "Hey, one of those sons was Molossus, who inherited some kingdom. Wasn't there a whole people descended from him? The Molossonians or something like that?"

It clicked in Kris' brain. "You mean the Molossians! They lived in the region of Epirus back in Ancient Greek. But that doesn't help up with this. Unless a descendant of the Molossians has it in their care." Kris stopped talking for a second. "Wait... The Molossians were famous for a special breed of dog. The shepherds used it to guard their flocks. Maybe there is a viscous dog somewhere that is guarding it?"

"Or a pack of them," Wes offered. "I remember that a group of tribes attacked them, and their king strategically evacuated the city to let them loot freely, then brought them back to overpower the invasion force." She remembered that tidbit from a strategy lesson back at camp. It was a fair enough strategy; it worked, after all.
"Anyway, when they evacuated, they left to some mountainous region in western Greece. Perhaps they took their prized shield there and left it for those dogs to guard? If that's the case, you may have been right in your hunch to come to Montana."
