That sounds like a good idea... though I think I'd need to see an example to see what I'm making... Is it like another OOC area only for welcome and questions? Do they introduce themselves?
How is is normally laid out?

Well, I answer at the risk of either having camp swamped by pets or looking like a hypocrite:

I've seen some pets wandering around, but they should be of the more normal variety and should have a bit of a good reason why you dragged the poor thing to your crazy summer camp.

I would guess that automations are allowed, if they don't break the roleplay. Which means, smaller automation that basically follow you around and act cute/funny. Again, a reason for why you have it is required, and easier to explain if you're a person who makes them just for the heck of it.

The shop no longer exists, because we failed miserably at up keeping it. And besides, no one really used it other than simple things like sword, shield, miscellaneous weapon. Thus Drachmas, on the site, don't exist/are useless.

Active Players... let's see. I'd say probably around ten. They seem to rotate a bit occasionally, but for the most part you'll always have several to roleplay with. We're a rather small site.
Then, three of us are on a quest, so we won't be in normal roleplay for a while.

Though all forms of battle might somehow conclude with weapons, it may be a nice change to he start.

Geeze, slow down.

After five posts, the initial one doesn't show in the quick view anymore....

So, wrestling tournament? Well, I can't really see how practical it'd be now. Then the matter of co-ed wrestling. So.. I'm shooting any official ones down.
Unarmed combat is fine, though at the moment, there's no real system for official practices.
(Though we might improve on that...)
