Alex walks through the fields and smells the sweet strawberries. Mmmm...strawberries. she thinks. Then, suddenly, a cry rang out. Alex ran to the source and saw Cameron crying. She knelt next to him. "Dude, whats wrong?"

I couldn't sleep so i started to walk thru the strawberry fields. suddenly i heard an anguished cry "WHY!" the voice screamed. I ran towards the sound and found a boy screaming and crying. "What's wrong man?" "What happened?" I knelt beside the boy hoping his sobs would subside enough for him to talk.

"There's other girls man." "Be strong" i said to him. "Girls like guys who can keep it together, who can protect or fight with them" "Now it's time to get up." "C'mon!" i said louder this time. "It's time to accept it and move on." "What if the camp was under attack right now?" "you would be run through by a Scythian dracnae's spear or maybe torn to pieces by a Hell-hound" "Bottom line is you have to focus" "We all do.."

Alex acknoledged Nick, then talked to Cameron. "Its okay. You know, I dont want to be stereotypical, but there ARE other fish in the sea."

"Cam! Come back!" Alex sighs then turns to Nick. "Well, we tried."

"All we could do I say to alex." "cmon lets practice". i said smiling at her. and start the walk across the strawberry fields...

"where are we going?" I ask. The smell of strawberries wafted throught the air. It was sorts...romantic. Then again, I barely knew this kid.

"Um" i say to Alex. she looked beautiful surrounded by all the strawberries. i found myself staring at her and blushed. "What were we talking about?" i say dazed. snap out of it i told myself you've just met her.

"Um..." Alex racked her brain trying to remember. "I guess I forgot, too...Oh well." She laughed.

i laughed. ok maybe i'm not a total fool. "Well what do you want to do?" i ask her.

I sit down in a patch of strawberries. "Whatever you want," I say smiling.

i sit down next to her,smiling. "Talking sounds nice" "you know..before camp i didn't have alot of friends." "I'm glad i came,even with the fighting and monsters I'm happier." "Because I have friends here and i know who i am." "Even if my dad does rule over the dead."

[Alexxx]

"Same." I stare at Nick, his hair gleaming in the sunlight. "Nick Ryder, you're a good kid." I inched closer to him.

"you are too" i say softly watching the sun play across her skin. the wind blowing her hair. "I'm glad we met" i say to her just as softly as before.

"Same to you." I rest my head on his shoulder.

i hold her in my arms and whisper in her ear "thanks for giving me a chance" "i was afraid i wouldn't make friends here"

"Well, too late." My head is a mere 2 inches from his face.

i lean in close to her trying to read her eyes. should i kiss her? i know i want to but what would she say? i lean in closer staring into her eyes intently. maybe she'll give me a clue just pay attention i think nervously. i don't want to mess this up. i like her.
