Andrew's Claiming

[Andrew Andreli]

It was a quite wonderful night. Andrew had had a very good day, so far. He thought it would be an awful time here when he first arrived several hours ago. Heck, he didn't believe in anything up until today.

Andrew grinned as the whole group sand campfire songs. Wow, he thought. This is a lot better than getting eaten by an evil vampire thing. He whistled to the songs, and clapped to the beat. Nothing could be better. All Andrew's life, people paid no attention to him. They overlooked him. But here, everyone was treated fairly. The boy had finally known where he belonged. Things are different now.

[Axel The Bunny]

Axel wasnt paying much attention to the song, he saw the kid who only a few hours ago had doubted all of this. now looking as though he had been meant to be here. Axel snuck through the people sitting in the amptheater, and in a few moments he was behind the kid. "well, glad to see you didnt bolt from camp after i left the big house."

Andrew shrugged. "I'm accepted here. I'm not judged or anything. I have a few friends. Going back to my old life? No way."

[Axel The Bunny]

"i understand that, before i was here i was a foster kid. grew up stealing and moving from home to home. i used to get into fights, sometimes the foster parents were...not friendly. until i got this" Axel pointed to the scar on his eye. "this came from a hellhound, the thing appeared right in front of me. it was when i first saw anything related to all of this."

"That sounds... Like it hurt." Andrew wondered why so many of the kids here were attacked by monsters early on. Why was life so difficult? But he mustn't worry about that, yet. There must be something else for him to worry about.

Andrew looked directly at the canpfire as he thought. Just thought about the day. Then a new question had risen to the top if his mind once again. "Why would the gods not claim their children?" he asked Axel, that boy he met earlier that day.

[Axel The Bunny]

"i dont know, i suppose they are busy, from what i have heard though they claim every child that makes it to camp at 13, or if you make it later like i did, then they will claim you as soon as you get to camp. though some have to wait a little while most get claimed in the first day like i did. i heard that a long time ago, they didnt claim some kids, but that some hero made them promise to follow those rules. so what's your story anyway?" Axel was curious about this kid. not many demigods as young as this kid were around here. it seemed they usually got to camp around 12-14. this kid didnt look old enough yet.

"I ran away from home when my mother told me about the Gods." Andrew started. "It was my 11th birthday. I lived off scraps in the trash on the streets. I remembered this place that my mom told me about- here. Not too long after I set off for New York, and it was a long way, a Mormon came and chased me. A mormo's a vampire thing that hurts children who are bad. The creature acted as if my being in existence was bad. 'A son of the least liked,' he said to me."

"well monsters are crazy you know" Axel thought about that. son of the least liked? who could that mean, he wasnt sure. but it was obviously some kinda clue to Andrew's parentage.

Andrew frowned, a thought occurring to him. "Axel, why do the monsters hate us? What did we do to them? Why are they so mad?"

[Axel The Bunny]

"i dont know. i know some want us for meals but others, im not so sure." Axel swiped one of those ancient greek coins from the person next to him. it was a random apollo kid, he didnt notice, which wasnt surprising. Axel spun the coin in his hand absently.

Andrew stared into the bright flames as he leaned back on the rocky seat. He closed his eyes, and relaxed. The fire cracked and popped in the background, but it made the night seem better. Everything was too perfect to be true. This had to be a dream.

Slowly, the boy opened his eyes. The sky's darkness was brightened by the light given by the stars. The dark sky. Andrew remembered something about his mother saying dark. Some cap of dark, our something, yet he couldn't remember. Not that it mattered of anything... Did it?

[Syl]

Syl liked watching the sparks come off the campfire. Was it a Hephaestus trait, or just her? It made the camp seem lively, and it was a bright red color, indicating happiness.
Hopes for the color to not fade to black.
Some of the kids, she saw, had sneaked off, either bored by the songs or annoyed by someone. She saw a Hermes kid stealing drachmas, and a new kid right next to him.
Should I bother?
Syl smiled uncertainly to herself and walked slowly behind the two boys. 
"So, new kid, huh?"

Andrew nodded, "Yeah. Didn't we meet a couple hours ago?"

[Axel The Bunny]

"well didnt expect to see you her...Syl right?" Axel was still trying to figure out Andrew's parent...the only one he could think of that represented darkness was Nyx but Andrew had said it was his father that was the god...so Axel couldnt think of anyone else who it could be.

[Syl]

((Sorry... I don't remember meeting Andrew, but let's just say they did .P))

"Syl." She nodded. She put her hand in her pockets, knowing that Axel was a son of Hermes - and he was bound to steal something she had.
"And yep." She said to Andrew. "Andrew, right?"

[Andrew Andreli]

Andrew nodded. "Yeah." He thought about his life, and who his parent was. He wanted to know most of all, out of everyone. The words... Darkness. Erebus, maybe? Andrew didn't know.

[Syl]

Syl turned to Axel to see what his expression was, then looked at Andrew again. "Unclaimed?" She asked carefully. She hesitated over the last syllable as she saw Andrew thinking.
Thinking about his parent, probably. So unclaimed.

Andrew nodded at Syl. "Yes. Unclaimed." He sighed, sadly. Then, turning to Syl, he asked "When did you get claimed?"

[Syl]

Syl thought about the time. It seemed so long ago, when actually it might have been a year ago. Not so long.
"Soon after I came into camp." She said, quite vaguely. "By Hephaestus."

Andrew nodded. It seemed like he would never get claimed. The chattering soon began to fill the large Ampitheater; he couldn't hear himself think. Yet, he still wondered who his father might be, desperately.
He sighed. The thought occurred to him once more. unclaimed . That word rang in his mind for a long while. Andrew compared that word to unloved , and had the same results: no one cares. Then the word disappeared from his mind, forever.
He felt his eyelids droop low, and caught sights of the big bonfire before falling asleep for a slight second. A crowd gasping in unison awoke him. "Is sleeping at the fire not allowed?" A asked the boy drowsily. He didn't realize it.
 Right in front of Andrew was a large-ish helmet of deep black, except for where the eyes should've been, where glowing blood red eye-like dots appeared. It was the Helm of Darkness that showed who he was. Who he is. 
A son of the Lord of the Dead, Hades.

[Syl]

Syl tried not to scoot away, tried not to offend Andrew, but she was slightly frightened by Hades - he was the death god, anyway, but he wasn't evil. He just got the dead to rule over.
But the son of the Underworld, oh gods.
Syl didn't make the connection, but at the same time, did. She'd never seen a son of Hades get claimed, but she knew that he would be a son of Hades. The symbol, the Helm was hovering above Andrew's head.
"Son of Hades," Syl muttered, agreeing to herself.

Andrew rubbed his eyes, and turned to Syl. "What?"

[Syl]

Syl's narrowed her eyes, then untensed them. "Your... father." She said slowly.

[Andrew Andreli]

Andrew nodded, "Yes...?"

[Axel The Bunny]

(Nice of you to wait for me Andre)

Axel saw the symbol materialize, of course it was hades. He had heard that monsters weren't big fans of the underworld. "So, a child of hades, and right when I was getting bored, this could get interesting." Syl looked freaked out, but Axel didn't fear the child of the underworld, some might say that made him crazy, and maybe they were right.
